The Legend Of Akshaya Tritiya
Akshaya is Never Diminishing. Akshaya is Nirantar.. ‘Akshaya’ signifies ‘eternal’, while Tritiya means ‘third’. Observed on the third lunar day of the spring month of Vaisakha in the Hindu calendar, Akshaya Tritiya or Akha Teej is celebrated with great fervour by Hindus and Jains as a day of new beginnings, endless wealth and prosperity, and the well-being of the soul. It is a supplication to Goddess Mahalakshmi to grant us Her bounty always. Akshaya Tritiya/ Akha Teej has its links to our much loved Puranas - the Birth of Sage Parasurama, the legend of the Akshaya Patra gifted to the Pandavas by Lord Krishna, and the selfless friendship between Krishna & Sudama.
This day falls on the 18th of April this year.
According to mythology, any task undertaken on Akshaya Tritiya grows in stature and cannot be destroyed. The Gods of Wealth & Prosperity, Lord Kuber and Goddess Lakshmi, are invoked and worshipped on this day. Whether to commence a new venture, solemnising nuptials, or investing in Fine Jewellery, this day is considered auspicious by Hindus across many regions of India.
The purchase of Gold & Silver jewellery has become an enduring custom on Akshaya Tritiya. It is not only an investment, but a lifestyle choice and an enhancement of the female form in all its glory.
